Singaporeans had more opportunities to engage and participate in arts and culture activities in 2016. According to the Singapore Cultural Statistics 2017, the number of non-ticketed performing arts activities saw an all-time high of almost 6000. The variety of activities included those organised as part of the National Arts Council’s Arts in Your Neighbourhood programme, National Heritage Board’s Singapore Night Festival, as well as People’s Association’s PAssionArts Festival.

The report also showed an increase in public interest in the arts, with attendance figures at non-ticketed activities hitting over 9.2 million. Visitorship figures to national museums and heritage institutions also hit a record high of over 5.1 million.
