Singapore Participates in the 59th Venice Biennale

Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong will be travelling to Venice from 20 – 22 April 2022 to launch the Singapore Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale.

Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong will be travelling to Venice from 20 – 22 April 2022 to launch the Singapore Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale. This year marks Singapore’s milestone 10th participation at the Venice Biennale.

2          The Venice Biennale is one of the most established international platforms for contemporary art in the world. Our milestone reflects Singapore’s commitment to expanding the space for our Singaporean artists to reach a global audience by presenting their works at internationally renowned platforms.

3          Singapore is represented at this edition of the Venice Biennale by the first women-led artist curator team at the Singapore Pavilion, Shubigi Rao and Ute Meta Bauer. Rao’s presentation at the Singapore Pavilion marks the midpoint of her decade-long project, Pulp, which takes the form of a book, film and paper maze.

4          The Singapore Pavilion will be presented at the Sale d’Armi, Arsenale, and runs from 23 April – 27 November 2022.
