Mr Tony Soh, CEO, National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC),
Board Members of NVPC,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Introduction
It is my pleasure to join you today for NVPC’s Company of Good Conference and Conferment, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Company of Good this year.
We are all here because we are bound by the commitment to do good.
In the past three years, over 1,000 companies have collectively contributed $384 million in donations, over $85 million worth of in-kind support and contributed 1.17 million volunteer hours.
This year, we recognise 481 companies for their exemplary commitment and support to the community and our nation. Thank you for exemplifying the “We First” spirit!
You have touched lives, strengthened communities and helped create a more resilient society.
Companies can be Powerful Engines of Social Good
The companies being recognised today have successfully shown the tangible impact that purpose-driven companies can create for our society. They have demonstrated how businesses can be a force for good.
An inspiring example is Tong Seng Produce, the distributor of popular food brands such as SōngHè rice. Guided by their mantra “Good Man, Good Deeds, Good Rice”, the company has made giving its core business philosophy.
In 2025, the company contributed over $500,000 in cash donations and close to 20,000 kg of rice to local charities supporting families and individuals in need.
Tong Seng Produce’s employees also helped as volunteers for various charity initiatives – such as the FairPrice Charity Car Wash, Walk for Rice, and Wings of Art – to rally the public in contributing to rice donations. Through 765 volunteer hours in 2025, their employees meaningfully contributed towards efforts to strengthen food security for the less fortunate among us.
Beyond funds and volunteerism, companies are also doing good by contributing their expertise. QB House is one example.
For the past 10 years, the company has been the official hairstylist sponsor for Hair for Hope. This is an initiative of the Children's Cancer Foundation, where participants shave their heads to raise funds and show solidarity with cancer patients. In 2025, QB House supported 16 such events, contributing their professional expertise to the cause in a tangible way.
To spread public awareness of the campaign, QB House staff across its 30 outlets put on the Hair for Hope T-shirt every weekend from May to June, helping to share about the cause with their customers. The efforts for this initiative have encouraged a culture of care and empathy amongst QB House employees.
Besides supporting Hair for Hope, QB House partnered the Caregiving Welfare Association last year to host a Christmas celebration for about 100 seniors at risk of social isolation. There is no initiative that is too small to lend a helping hand.
Tong Seng Produce and QB House, amongst many others in the room today, have demonstrated that businesses can bring meaningful social impact to society.
A big thank you to all of you for giving so generously.
Companies with Heart Gain Competitive Edge
Companies and employees with hearts of gold who give back to society like Tong Seng Produce, inadvertently benefit from the good they do.
When employees come together to volunteer and see the positive impact made, there is a sense of pride and belonging which contributes to their satisfaction and purpose.
You are not just ensuring customer loyalty, you are also ensuring your employees’ loyalty. The goodwill created for the company and brand is another intangible and invaluable advantage.
In an era where customers, employees, and stakeholders increasingly align with companies that mirror their values, companies like Tong Seng Produce and QB House, which invest in their communities, gain trust and goodwill, and develop a lasting competitive edge.
The Companies of Good inspire us to build a stronger and more caring Singapore together.
I am heartened that our force of good is spreading beyond individual companies. Trade associations are coming on board too. As representatives of their industries, they have a powerful and influential role in driving collective impact for our society. For example, NVPC and Singapore Logistics Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this year to promote Corporate Purpose across the logistics sector.
Through this partnership, they aim to strengthen purpose-driven leadership within the sector, build essential human capital, and create meaningful skills-based volunteering opportunities.
These opportunities will empower Singapore Logistics Association’s 700 member companies and their employees to provide support to non-profit organisations and social enterprises through volunteerism and inclusive hiring.
On this note, I would like to thank NVPC for their dedication and good work in journeying alongside companies and associations. I know they worked hard to provide guidance and platforms for companies to align profit with purpose successfully.
Once again, allow me to extend our heartiest congratulations to all the good companies being awarded today. I trust that the well-deserved recognition and today’s conference will reinvigorate your sense of purpose and inspired you to continue building a caring and resilient Singapore together.
Thank you.
