Response to parliamentary question on enforcement of ActiveSG Terms of Use for facility bookings
*3044. Dr Hamid Razak: To ask the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (a) whether Sport Singapore's enforcement of Clause 20.3 of the ActiveSG Terms of Use, which prohibits advertising bookings for sale, distinguishes non-profit cost-sharing arrangements within stable recreational groups from commercial on-selling for profit; and (b) if not, whether the Ministry will consider such a distinction.
Response:
The booking system is designed for members’ fair access to ActiveSG facilities. Members should not book facilities to offer or transfer to others if they have no intention to use the facilities. Some on-sellers also charge an upfront fee as a condition of play, under the guise of cost-sharing.
Therefore, Clause 20.3 of ActiveSG’s Terms of Use does not distinguish non-profit cost-sharing from commercial on-selling for profit, and we have no plans to make changes to this clause.
