Response to parliamentary question on impact of CDC Vouchers (CDCV) on Singaporean households and small businesses.
905. Mr Saktiandi Supaat: To ask the Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (a) how many Singapore households have claimed the 2026 $300 CDC vouchers; (b) what proportion of that value has been spent at heartland businesses; and (c) how does Government assess the impact of CDC vouchers on household consumption and small business resilience.
Response:
1 Mr Edwin Tong Chun Fai: Mr Speaker, I am answering in my capacity as the Minister charged with the responsibility for the People’s Association. The CDC Vouchers Scheme 2026 (January) tranche was launched a month ago. While it is still early to share the claim and spend rate of the latest tranche, $3.995 billion worth of CDC vouchers and SG60 vouchers has been spent over the last four years. Of this, $2.127 billion was spent at heartland merchants and hawkers, and $1.868 billion spent at supermarkets.
2 Beyond fulfilling its goal of helping Singaporeans households with their daily necessities, the spending of CDC vouchers boosted the businesses of participating heartland merchants and hawkers while also increasing the vibrancy of heartland shops.
