Response to parliamentary question on MUIS' 2026 study on participation in part-time Islamic education in Singapore

*2765. Mr Saktiandi Supaat: To ask the Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs following MUIS’s ongoing 2026 study on participation in part-time Islamic education (a) which demographic groups currently show the largest gaps between interest in religious learning and actual participation; (b) what barriers have been identified; and (c) how does MUIS intend to improve access for underserved groups.

Response:

  1. The study is currently ongoing, with the full findings to be released later this year.

  2. MUIS will work with the Islamic Education Workgroup, which brings together representatives from across the Islamic education sector, to draw on the study's findings to better meet the community’s religious learning needs. We will share more information when ready.
