The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) will appoint Mr David Chua as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Council (NYC) with effect from 28 July 2015. Mr Chua will be NYC’s first CEO after it was restructured in January 2015 as an autonomous agency under MCCY, housing two key institutions: Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) and Youth Corps Singapore. Mr Chua will also assume the Chairmanship of *SCAPE, a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) under MCCY.
Under Mr Chua’s leadership, the NYC aims to ensure greater coherence and coordination in youth development efforts. It will deepen partnerships with the people, private and public sectors to drive holistic youth development. It aims to better feel the youth pulse, coordinate youth well-being issues and inspire young people to make a difference in their communities.
On his new appointment, Mr David Chua said, “I am excited to work with a very passionate team in NYC to make a difference where we can for our youth. Young Singaporeans are our future. It is imperative that we invest in them and develop their potential, resilience and confidence to own Singapore as our home. NYC looks forward to tackling the many challenges ahead and cannot do it alone. We will need to partner many other stakeholders to develop, nurture and mentor our youth to bring out the best in them.”
