Sam Tan: Give your best at the Youth Olympic Games, Team Singapore!

Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Sam Tan will be in Nanjing, China, from 15 to 19 August 2014 to cheer Team Singapore athletes for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games.

Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Sam Tan will be in Nanjing, China, from 15 to 19 August 2014 to cheer Team Singapore athletes for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games. Singapore will be fielding a contingent of 18 athletes to compete in eight sports, led by Chef de Mission Mark Chay. The Games will be held from 16 to 28 August 2014.
Mr Tan said: “The YOG will be where sporting stars are born, and I look forward to seeing our Team Singapore athletes do their best, and shine in this international sporting event. I hope that the athletes will also take this opportunity to forge new friendships with their peers who will accompany them in their journey towards excellence.”
Held every four years, the Youth Olympic Games promotes the spirit of sportsmanship and imbues Olympic values in the next generation of athletes. Singapore will be competing in the following sports in Nanjing – Aquatics (Swimming and Diving), Athletics, Badminton, Gymnastics, Sailing, Shooting, Table Tennis and Triathlon.
While in Nanjing, Mr Tan will be cheering the Team Singapore athletes at various events. He will also be visiting the Singaporean athletes at the Youth Olympic Village where they are staying.
Mr Tan will be accompanied by officials from MCCY and Sport Singapore.
