Singapore will establish SG for Humanity, a network facilitated by MCCY that unites the Government, humanitarian organisations, and the community to strengthen support and improve aid delivery for those affected by the crisis in Gaza.
SINGAPORE, 5 November 2026 – Singapore will establish SG for Humanity, a network bringing together the Government, established humanitarian organisations and the community to strengthen Singapore’s collective humanitarian efforts for those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Building on Singapore’s existing contributions, SG for Humanity will enable Singapore to do more, including by enhancing humanitarian partnerships and improving the last-mile delivery of assistance to those who need it most. It will also broaden opportunities for Singaporeans across communities to contribute to this whole-of-nation effort.
The launch of SG for Humanity was announced today by Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim and Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Transport, Mr Baey Yam Keng.
The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) will facilitate the network by bringing together four established humanitarian organisations — Humanity Matters (HM), Mercy Relief (MR), Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF), and Singapore Red Cross (SRC) as its initial partners. SG for Humanity will harness the organisations’ respective experiences, capabilities and overseas partnerships, and provide a common platform for further collaborations or new initiatives.
Singapore’s Humanitarian Support for Gaza
Since October 2023, the Singapore Government, humanitarian organisations, and the community have contributed over S$25 million of humanitarian aid to those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, to support essential needs such as food, healthcare, clean water, shelter and education.
HM, MR, RLAF and SRC have made substantial contributions through fundraising, the provision of relief supplies, and their work on the ground with international and regional partners, such as the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) and Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), to channel assistance to affected civilians.
In 2025, the Singapore Government provided S$1 million in seed funding, distributed equally among HM, MR, RLAF and SRC, to support their public fundraising and humanitarian assistance efforts for Gaza.
The humanitarian needs of those affected remain significant. There is scope for Singapore to strengthen how our collective contributions translate into effective assistance on the ground.
A Common Singapore Humanitarian Effort through SG for Humanity
SG for Humanity builds on these efforts by bringing Singapore’s humanitarian organisations together to strengthen support for those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Participating NGOs will continue to lead their respective humanitarian programmes and engagements, while SG for Humanity will facilitate closer collaboration, identify opportunities for joint initiatives, strengthen partnerships with overseas humanitarian organisations, and create more opportunities for Singaporeans across communities to contribute through fundraising and volunteering.
The Singapore Government will complement these efforts by facilitating engagement with overseas authorities and humanitarian partners. The aim is to go beyond mobilising funds and resources and explore further ways Singapore can strengthen last mile delivery of humanitarian assistance for those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. SG for Humanity will also broaden opportunities for Singaporeans to contribute such as contributing their professional skills and expertise.
Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence is expected to undertake a working visit to Egypt in the coming weeks. Egypt plays a central role in facilitating humanitarian assistance to Gaza. During the visit, Acting Minister Zaqy Mohamad will engage the Egyptian authorities and humanitarian partners on how Singapore can further support humanitarian assistance for those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
More details on SG for Humanity’s upcoming initiatives will be announced in due course.
