Response to parliamentary question on the progress of the Sports Hub and use for National Day Parade
Question
Mr Nicholas Fang: To ask the Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth whether he can provide an update on the progress of construction of the new Sports Hub and whether it will be available for use for the National Day Parade in 2014
Response
Acting Minister Lawrence Wong: The construction of the Singapore Sports Hub is currently progressing on schedule. Based on the progress so far, the Sports Hub should be able to begin operations in April next year as planned. This means that the new National Stadium would technically be available for the National Day Parade (NDP) in August 2014. However, there are detailed logistical and operational requirements, including sufficient lead time for rehearsals, which need to be catered for the NDP. The NDP organisers are studying these detailed requirements, before deciding on the venue of the NDP next year.
